An Insanely Ambitious Self-Taught Designer

Late in college, while finishing my Tourism Management degree, I discovered my passion for design. I threw myself into learning, devouring every resource, and taking on freelance projects to test my skills and prove I could break into the industry.

High-Risk, High-Reward

I embraced every opportunity, from designing ads for Fortune 500 brands to creating intros for reality TV shows my mom skips. Each role taught me invaluable lessons that I carried throughout my career.

From Led to Lead

In 2023, I joined an Amazon Accelerator as a Senior Graphic Designer, creating updated listing images and optimizing Amazon listings for established U.S. brands. Within three months, I was offered an opportunity to step up as Graphic Design Lead. Here goes my risk-taking again.

Scale, Scale, Scale

Out of a talented pool of candidates, somehow I was chosen. My focus was on building processes that could handle big goals, starting with a team of 16 designers. By the end of the year, I was tasked with scaling the team from 16 to 60—an insane endeavor.

Leader to Coach

In mid-2024, I faced the challenging task of downsizing my team. I found myself guiding them through their next career steps, which opened my eyes to the power of coaching. This experience inspired me to pursue certification and to become a Certified Professional Coach.

Creative, Leader, Coach

In September 2024, I became a Certified Professional Coach and launched Get Better with Aqi, guiding designers to break into the industry, advance their careers, or reignite their creative spark. Every step of my journey, with its highs and lows, has shaped me as a Creative, a Leader, and a Coach.
